The concept of 'Construction Management' is relatively recent. It first appeared in the 1960s when a group of Florida Universities formed the Associated Schools of Construction. Their aim was to advance Construction education.
The Associated Schools of Construction is the professional association for the development and advancement of construction education, where the sharing of ideas and knowledge inspires, guides and promotes excellence in curricula, teaching, research and service. From Associated Schools of Construction website https://ascweb.org/
The study of Construction Management has since developed into a standard curriculum and with it a recognised profession.
