What does Actual Start date mean in Project Management?

by | reviewed 2023-08-19

Actual Start date

The point in time that work actually started on a scheduled activity. Project Managers record the date so they can track progress against the baselined project plan.
Actual Start Date - meaning and definition
Project Managers record actual start dates so they can see whether an activity started according to plan. They enter the date into the project's schedule and the scheduling software will calculate the impact on the other project tasks. For example, if a task is started late Microsoft Project will recalculate the estimated start and end dates of the successor tasks.
