Explore stakeholder engagement

Stakeholders can receive information, contribute ideas, take part in the work or share responsibility for decisions.

Open a level to explore an example and see what makes that approach distinct.

Stakeholder groups are starting points. Combine approaches to suit people's needs.

How to use this teaching tool
  1. Open a level. Read the definition beneath the flap. You can also drag the lower two sections to the right.
  2. Compare the example. Read what the people do and what makes it an example of that approach.
  3. Connect it to the analysis. The highlighted quadrant shows the stakeholder group linked to that approach in this model. Consider the decision, people's needs and the effect on them before choosing how to engage.

Try this: compare consultation with participation. Are people giving input before a decision, or helping carry out the work?

Keyboard: use Tab to reach a level, then Enter or Space to open it. Press Escape to close it. In the compact version, focus the examples panel to scroll it with the keyboard.
