About the stakeholder engagement pyramid

The stakeholder engagement pyramid shows five approaches to involving people in a project: pull communications, push communications, consultation, participation and partnership. The approaches range from making information available to sharing responsibility for decisions and outcomes.

Moving up the pyramid generally requires more time and closer working with fewer stakeholders. Use your stakeholder analysis to assess each stakeholder's influence and interest and choose how best to engage them.

The original model uses overlapping bands, not a separate engagement level for each quadrant of the power-interest grid. Select a level to read its definition and example, then compare it with the full model. You can combine several approaches for the same stakeholder.
